Following their first victories and a clean sweep at Road America nearly two months ago, TOMO Racing heads to Utah Motorsports Campus for Rounds 9 & 10 of the Pirelli World Challenge Championships aiming to continue their streak.

The Pirelli World Challenge TC/TCA/TCB classes are slated to make their first journey west this week with Rounds 9 & 10 of the 2016 season taking place at Utah Motorsports Campus, formerly Miller Motorsports Park. Tom O’Gorman and the #94 Black Armor Helmets, SCCA Track Night In America, Carbotech Brakes, KTuner, Honda Racing/HPD Honda Fit will make the trek to continue their bid for the 2016 TCB Championship.

“It feels like a weight’s been lifted, getting our first wins back at Road America,” O’Gorman said. “We focused our energy at the beginning of the season on consistent finishes and smart races to get the championship started on the right foot, but with the debut of our 2015 Honda Racing/HPD Fit at Road America, we really wanted that win. Now that we got it, we can keep focused on grabbing as many points as possible for the remainder of the season. This weekend at Utah Motorsports Campus will set the tone for the final weekend at Laguna Seca in October.”

O’Gorman comes into the weekend 3rd in championship points. Due to a schedule change, he has scored two fewer races than the drivers ahead and will score double points at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, October 6-9, to make up the difference.

While the PWC Championship was on break, O’Gorman’s teammate David Daughtery continued his progress towards winning the SCCA Majors Northern Conference, scoring two wins at the Road America Majors July 30-31. The duo share the same 2015 Honda Fit, campaigning for two championships in one season; O’Gorman in PWC TCB, Daughtery in SCCA Club B-Spec.

“We have such a unique opportunity this year, to run for two championships in the same. We get to showcase Honda’s great new Fit platform in multiple series, and every time David hits the track, we learn something new that can benefit me and vice versa,” tells O’Gorman. “Add in our great partnerships with Carbotech Brakes and KTuner, and we’ve got a killer package. We can’t thank them all enough – we couldn’t ask for more out of the season at this point.”

Joining O’Gorman will be Black Armor Helmets owner and teammate James Wilson (#55 TCB, Mazda2) on track as the team battles for the Team Championship, in addition to O’Gorman’s Driver’s Championship. The team currently sits 4th in points. Black Armor Helmets is the Official Helmet of the Pirelli World Challenge Safety Team.

Rounds 9 & 10 will be broadcast live at world-challenge.com and MotorTrendOnDemand.com, with live timing available for all sessions at world-challenge.com.
