Grahovec/Ohmacht 5th in GTS Am Class Sunday, McAleer/Raphael 11th in Pro/Am

Portland, Ore. – It was time to get back on the podium for Karl Wittmer Sunday at Portland International Raceway in Round 8 Touring Car competition, as the driver of the No. 91 CLASSIC BMW BMW M235iR driver drove a spectacular race to place third in the Pirelli World Challenge action.

Wittmer battled BMW driver Johan Schwartz for much of the 40-minute TC contest in a wild wheel-to-wheel battle for the lead at the 1.97-mile, 12-turn PIR road course in the Delta Park portion of the north Portland area.

A late charge by Nissan driver Vesko Kozarov put Schwartz and Wittmer in second and third when the checkered flag flew after the 29-lap event. Wittmer finished just one second behind the winner.

In addition to Wittmer in third, Matt Travis drove the No. 26 CLASSIC BMW BMW M235iR to fifth place Sunday with Jayson Clunie taking sixth in the No. 27 CLASSIC BMW M235iR.

“We had a great race today with Johan,” said Wittmer. “It always fun to race with a real pro. The Nissan was just a better car today, but I got some valuable points in the TC championship run. The CLASSIC BMW team always gives me a strong car and today (Sunday) was no different. I was able to drive the car very hard and battle for the win. It’s fun to drive the CLASSIC BMW.”

In the Round 8 GTS SprintX 60-minute race, Toby Grahovec and Chris Ohmacht piloted the No. 92 EFT Global/CAO/CLASSIC BMW BMW M4 GT4 sports car to fifth in the AM Class in a wild 34-car field. The Grahovec/Ohmacht currently rank third in the GTS SprintX Am division as Rounds 9 and 10 are set for August 10-12 at Utah Motorsports Campus.

The No. 17 Raphael & Associates/CLASSIC BMW BMW M4 GT4 placed 11th Sunday after scoring sixth Saturday with Justin Raphael and Stevan McAleer driving the popular bright green BMW. The third CLASSIC BMW BMW M4 GT4 entry of Daren Jorgensen and Brett Storm failed to finish Sunday in the No. 113 JET Environmental/CLASSIC BMW BMW M4 GT4.

All of the Pirelli World Challenge races are viewed annually on and the Pirelli World Challenge YouTube channel.

Classic BMW heads up the BMW customer racing program in North America, with customer-built cars and has captured the 2016 PWC Touring Car title with Grahovec and the BMW M235iR race car. The BMW M235iR racing sedan also won the PWC Touring Car manufacturer’s championship in 2017.
