We have been busy in the shop since our last outing in June at Road America! We are preparing our car to test at Barber Motorsports Park, September 10-11, with our friends at Chin Motorsports. This coming weekend is the Utah Motorsports Campus round of the Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car schedule, and although this round was a part of our original four-race plan we will longer be making the trip to Tooele, Utah.

After Road America we decided that due to our team’s “new” 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 tow vehicle having to undergo an engine rebuild (cylinder walls were cracked in #’s 5 and 6, it’s suspected that the previous owner never cleaned the air filter!), we would consolidate our funds towards fielding a strong effort for the final round at Laguna Seca. Laguna Seca is also now a double points round after the series cancelled the Touring Car rounds at Mid Ohio in July!

Since late June our plan has been to undertake several major projects on our Honda Accord to continue our march towards the front of the Touring Car field. Our Honda Accord platform is still the “newbie” in the World Challenge TC field, being in only it’s second year of PWC competition. Luckily working alongside Honda Motorpsorts Alabama we have been able to make strides in the car’s development each test and race weekend. Thanks to Paul Street and team we are making vast improvements! After struggling with excessive brake wear at Road America we’ve revised our brake ducting, and are planning to test a non-ABS setup in the off-season. Our hopes are that we can put together a strong budget to field our car for the full season in 2017. Testing gets us a long way, but we can only learn to compete at the front by consistently lining up alongside our competition!

By the end of the month rainsracing.com will be up and running. I’ll make a Facebook post and likely send another email at that time!

Sept. 10-11 at Barber Motorsports Park we will be once again offering ride-alongs in our Honda Accord, and enjoying all of the splendors of our wonderful local track! If you have time to make it out to the track we’d love for you to join us! We’ll be there both Saturday and Sunday and are happy to host you alongside our friends at Honda Motorsports Alabama. We will be serving lunch, and offering drinks and snacks all day, hope to see you there!

APEX Pro LLC will be unveiling the Digital Driving Coach in the coming months. Many of you are likely familiar with this product, and may have even used it on the track! We are nearing the public unveil of the product, and will hopefully have it on the market by the September Chin weekend at Barber! In the mean time, if you are interested in a Beta version of product, please contact me and let me know! More information will be provided shortly….

Thank you for being a part of our vision to create a championship caliber racing team based in Birmingham, AL. We would not be here without your support and guidance. See you at the track!
