AUSTIN, Tex. – The 2018 BMW World Sports Trophy winning-team, Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW of Plano, Tex., returns to the Pirelli GT4 America and TC America divisions this weekend (March 1-3) at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in the 2019 Blancpain GT World Challenge season-opening doubleheader races.
Fast Track Racing, who recently captured the biggest award in BMW worldwide customer racing in Munich, Germany, comes to its home race track for the sports car competition in the Pirelli GT America SprintX class with three BMW M4 GT4 entries and in the TC America category with one BMW M240iR machine.
Toby Grahovec of Celina, Tex., the 2016 Touring Car series champion, will handle double duty at COTA as the personable Fast Track Racing team manager returns to the TC America action with the new No. 26 Classic BMW BMW M240iR sedan in two 40-minute sprint races set for Saturday (March 2) at 11:15 a.m. CST and Sunday (March 3) at 9:00 a.m. CST.
Grahovec will also team with Chris Ohmacht of Franklin Lakes, N.J., in the GT4 America 60-minute doubleheader events at the wheel of the No. 92 VETS Indexes/Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4 sports car in the GT4 contests scheduled for Saturday at 1:05 p.m. CST and Sunday at 10:10 a.m. CST.
Joining Grahovec and Ohmacht in the Pirelli GT4 America events at COTA for the Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW contingent will be the combinations of Justin Raphael of Franklin Lakes, N.J., and Stevan McAleer of Cold Spring, N.Y., in the No. 17 Raphael & Associates/Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4 car and Jeff Sexton of Austin, Tex., and Ray Mason of Columbus, Ohio in the No. 254 Saga Racing/Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4.
“The end of the 2018 was very exciting for the Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW team with the Touring Car team championship in the TC division for World Challenge and then the team being named BMW Motorsports 2018 Sports Trophy Team of the Year,” said Grahovec. “We want to give a huge thanks to BMW Motorsports for building incredible race cars that allow us to compete at a top level each week during the season. The blood, sweat and tears make victory and these accomplishments that much sweeter! We have been working hard during the off-season to prepare solid, strong BMW race cars for 2019. We have looking forward to competing at our home track of COTA in the World Challenge season openers.”
In addition to the TC America doubleheader action at COTA this weekend, the Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW GT4 America team begins track action Friday with practice runs followed by Saturday’s qualifying rounds at 9 a.m. CST.
The two 60-minute Pirelli GT4 America SprintX races are scheduled for 1:05 p.m. CST on Saturday, March 2, and 10.10 a.m. CST on Sunday, March 3.
All Pirelli GT4 America and TC America races at COTA will be live streamed on www.world-challenge.com and will be televised on CBS Sports Network at a future date.
