Stratford, CT – S.A.C. Racing enters fives cars at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for the Pirelli World Challenge season finale. Team driver Elivan Goulart in the Savings Auto Center/SCDA1.com Mazda MX-5 Cup has a commanding 248-point lead heading into the final two rounds, and is poised to clinch the team’s first championship in the TCA class in their inaugural season. “Heading into the final two rounds at Mazda Raceway (Laguna Seca) with the points lead is a huge plus, but we still face a tough road ahead to secure the championship,” quotes Goulart. “My main focus will be to finish ahead of second place (in points) to lock up the championship.”
Team driver Matthew Fassnacht, in the S.A.C. Racing/Equity Residences Mazda MX-5 Cup looks to better his best finish of the season of second place in TCA at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. “I am so grateful that S.A.C. asked me to join the team. I am most impressed by the team’s technical and strategic capabilities and commitment to success, with this I hope to get on the top step of the podium,” quoted Fassnacht.
Daniel Williams of Scottsbluff, NE who ran a limited schedule in 2016 looks to close out the season with a podium in TCA. “Racing with S.A.C. has been one of the most fun and rewarding experiences in my life. Everybody cares and everybody shares in the success as well as the failures. On an emotional level, it’s fantastic to me a part of this team.”
In the TC class, Anthony Geraci, driving the European Granite & Marble Group Inc. Mazda MX-5, looks to close a successful season strong, which saw the Glen Park, NY native clinch his first professional Pirelli World Challenge race at his and the teams home track, Lime Rock Park. “Winning at Lime Rock (Park) and coming in second place the day before was for me extremely gratifying at many levels. I started SCCA racing at Lime Rock in a Spec Miata in 2012,” said Geraci when asked what it was like to win his first race. “(It) was what I needed to put the butterflies to rest in this new and challenging series.”
Daniel Moen driving the S.A.C. Racing Mazda Mx-5 in the TC class looks forward to counting his string of finishes in Pirelli World Challenge competition. Moen has completed every lap and finished in the top 20 all season. The jump for me to (Pirelli) World Challenge is a dream come true. My first season has been both exhilarating and challenging. S.A.C. Racing has done a superb job to get me on track every session, and that has led to my success,” quoted Moen.
S.A.C. team owner Ademir Fedumenti cannot give his drivers and team enough praise, “Our crew and drivers have poured their hearts and souls in this program. The proof is in the results of this season. After being in racing for almost 50 years with my father, my sons and now my grandson making it 4 generations. I am thrilled that my son and team has a chance to take home the TCA Championship. Our dedication to this season and in the future will show this weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.”
