KRÜGSPEED Racing has expanded. With the stars aligning, and cooperation from many different parties, Alex Krügman and the guys at KRÜGSPEED have been hard at work preparing their two-car effort for the 2017 Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car Championship. 2016 part-time PWC TC driver Dennis Hanratty Jr. will return to wheel the #4 Lotus Exige while Cameron Maugeri will pilot the #72 Lotus Exige.
Hanratty of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, is a veteran driver with experience ranging from Formula cars to sports racers. Having run a part-time schedule in 2016 Hanratty has experienced success in two front row starts, one pole position and two podiums with the series.
With racing in his blood, Maugeri is making another step up to Pirelli World Challenge. The 2016 SCCA Runoffs pole sitter and Trans-Am TA4 2016 Daytona winner Maugeri has been hard at work in the offseason getting things in line for 2017.
The New York based race team has been preparing cars since 2002 and has been racing since 1995. Alex Krügman said “We have really been able to embrace our motto ‘Preserventia Victoria’ or ‘through perseverance we achieve victory.’ With our persistence, teamwork and Lotus factory support we have been able to, and will continue to, compete at the highest level.”
The whole team is focused on the bigger picture this year and will be looking for short term and long term success. “We know we have the equipment, the crew and the cars to run for a championship. With our newest project developing and our teamwork we know that we will be able to contend.” said Krugman.
The PWC TC season kicks off April 28-30 at Virginia International Raceway.
