Webster, NY – Coming off of back-to-back VIR trips in the past month, BERG Racing heads south once again for Touring Car round one of the 2017 Pirelli World Challenge Championships season.

Debuting the all-new 2017 Audi RS 3 LMS USA Clubsport, BERG Racing team drivers John Allen, JT Coupal and John Weisberg are thrilled to get the season underway.

“We’re excited to finally go racing in 2017,” remarked John Weisberg, BERG Racing team owner. “Months of offseason work are finally about to pay off – we’re very excited to debut our Audi TC program with John and JT.”

Allen and Coupal are equally excited to return to VIR for the TC season opener.

“I’m looking forward to getting back in the Micro Precision Components Audi RS 3 LMS at VIR,” said Coupal, a 16-year-old Rochester, New York native. “We had a productive test last month and learned quite a bit about the MPC Audi, and expect it to be competitive for the race. Hopefully the weather for the race weekend is just a touch warmer for the fans – and the drivers!”

John Allen expects an equally successful weekend, coming off of a productive pre-season test.

“I’m very excited to begin my Touring Car campaign with BERG Racing,” remarked Allen. “Our Audi RS 3 LMS was very good straight out of the box back in March at VIR, so we expect to be strong this time around. BERG Racing has put together a very impressive program for 2017, and if we judge our TCR-class podium run in the Dubai 24 Hours, we should have a great season!”

John Weisberg will return to the TC class in 2017 with an upgraded REDCOM Mazda MX-5 Miata, featuring a Quaife sequential gearbox – an upgrade he hopes will help add to the achievements of last year.

“We had a great test at VIR last month,” said Weisberg. “Both of our Audi customers became comfortable with the car, and I put a lot of laps on my MX-5. We’re excited to move forward with the Mazda program in my upgraded REDCOM Laboratories MX-5, while at the same time diversifying with our Audi RS 3 LMS program.”

Dinah Weisberg, President of REDCOM Laboratories, Inc. is optimistic about continued exposure possibilities in the Pirelli World Challenge, and the 2017 program as a whole.

“Two weeks ago I raced at VIR to achieve a third-place podium finish after spinning in the first lap of my race,” remarked Dinah Weisberg. “I’m extremely excited to see what the upgrades to John’s Mazda will mean to our overall performance this year. Our fans and REDCOM clients love the excitement of a winning season. Fresh cars, new challenges and a chance to push the limits and break out – we’re off to a great start!”
