Mazda Motorsports Director John Doonan presents a $50,000 check from the Mazda Foundation to the SPCA for Monterey County Director of Development Susan Koza.  Joining John and Susan are Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca CEO/General Manager Gill Campbell, members of SCRAMP, Mazda racers, SPCA volunteers, and representatives of Cypress Coast Mazda.

Located directly across the street from Mazda Raceway is a very special neighbor, the SPCA for Monterey County. Since 2007, Mazda Motorsports and SCRAMP have worked hand-in-paw with the SPCA to promote shelter adoptions at select race weekends. Promotions have ranged from having MUTTS Comics stars Mooch and Earl at the track, naming animals after Mazda racers, special guest drivers like Indy 500 winner Danny Sullivan, and a Bunnies-Helping-Bunnies promotion with Playboy magazine. For the Mazda Road to Indy / Pirelli World Challenge weekend, all participants are asked to make a “pet stop” at the shelter, or their benefit shop in Carmel.  For more information on the SPCA for Monterey County, and how to support them, please visit:
