Fuentes poised to secure Pirelli World Challenge GTA championship
Los Angeles, Calif. – Scuderia Corsa driver Martin Fuentes leads the Pirelli World Challenge GT-A championship in the no. 07 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 458 Italia. This weekend, the PWC will contest a pair of races at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California. With nine victories on the season, including the last race at Utah Motorsports Campus, Fuentes has built up a 272-point lead in the championship with three races remaining in the season, and can secure the championship by finishing in seventh position and completing 50% of the race’s distance in Saturday’s race.
“We are really looking forward to this weekend’s race in Sonoma,” said Fuentes. “I’m ready, and the team is ready, and we know that mathematically we can clinch the championship on Saturday. We had a very good race last year in Sonoma. The Ferrari behaves well on this kind of track, and I am excited to be back in the car after a month away. I hope we can win the championship for Scuderia Corsa this weekend!”
The Lone Star Le Mans will be broadcast live on FOX Sports on Saturday, September 17 at 12:30 PM ET with qualifying streamed live on IMSA.tv on Friday, September 16 at 4:45 PM ET.
The first PWC race of the weekend will be streamed live on Saturday, September 17 at 4:45 PM ET with the second on Sunday, September 18 at 4:15 PM ET on world-challenge.com.
