Birmingham, AL — After a somewhat disappointing debut last month at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, the Rains Racing team is back, and ready to run its Touring Car class Volkswagen’s at Wisconsin’s Road America this coming weekend! A lot was learned on the debut weekend, and the team has taken that knowledge and translated it into work at the shop to better prepare the race cars for the challenge awaiting in Wisconsin!
The team suffered several reliability woes, but proved the speed of the VW platform, with Mikey Taylor running as high as third, and Andrew Rains as high as sixth overall on the team’s debut. With further preparation, and strong support from the team’s great partners, the young operation looks to build on the foundation that was laid at CTMP, with an emphasis on finishing races before all else.
Road America is known to be one of the most challenging road courses in North America, with high speed straights, fast sweeping corners, and technical turns. The team feels properly equipped with great usable power delivered by Unitronic, a smooth and throaty Milltek Exhaust note, Motul Lubricants, DXD Racing Clutches, OMP Racing gear, and parts from RacingLine USA and Black Forest Industries, the team is excited to represent these great companies! We could not do it without the support from the Volkswagen community, and racers across the country with these great organizations.
Thank you to our steadfast supporters, The Rains Racing team, and the Rains and Taylor families, National Bank of Commerce, AfriGIS, PLK Investment Partners, Advanced Graphics, and Portable Shade USA! We’re on the track because of the efforts of the men and women with these companies (and families of course!), thank you so much for being a part of our team!
We’re excited to welcome aboard European Performance Group, and Frank Ridenour, as well as Motorville Volkswagen, and Ben Darkow for the Road America race weekend. Thank you for your local knowledge and support, and see you at the track!
