DETROIT, Mich. – The beautiful island of Belle Isle was the perfect backdrop for the first victory for NGT Motorsport, in the Pirelli World Challenge.  Henrique Cisneros piloted the #30 MOMO NGT Motorsport Ferrari 458 GT3 Italia to victory lane, extending his lead in the GTA Driver’s Championship.

The first practice session of the weekend revealed the extensive bumpiness of the track, and the narrow corners that would prove challenging for competitors to avoid. Cisneros quickly adapted and was not only the fastest GTA competitor, but sixth fastest overall, besting several GT class entries.

Qualifying began early Saturday morning, with the GTA class competitors qualifying first. Cisneros was fast from the beginning, posting a time of 1:32.352 on his third lap. By the end of the session, the #30 MOMO NGT Motorsport Ferrari was second in the GTA class. But a red flag during the following GT qualifying session forced the competitors to abandon the session. With no qualifying times to grid the GT class by, officials declared that Round 10 of the Pirelli World Challenge, would be gridded according to championship
points. With Cisneros leading the GTA championship, this moved him up to pole position for his class.

Only a couple hours after qualifying, the green flag waved over a rolling start for Race #1. Cisneros had a great start and kept his Ferrari 458 GT3 Italia machine at the front of the GTA class.

Cisneros was consistently fast, besting his qualifying time with a 1:32.204, beating the previous track record. Cisneros took the checkered flag to claim his first victory in the GTA class, with over an eighteen-second gap to the next GTA class competitor.

“The #30 MOMO NGT Motorsport Ferrari was fantastic today,” said Cisneros. “This track is very bumpy and narrow in many sections, but the car handled beautifully.” With his victory, Cisneros maintains control of the GTA Driver’s Championship, extending his lead by 74 points.

With the fastest GTA lap time in Round 10, Cisneros qualified on pole for Round 11. But inclement weather caused hazardous racing conditions, and after running the warm up session, the Pirelli World Challenge agreed that it was unsafe to run and cancelled Race #2 of the weekend. Double points are to be awarded in Round 12.

“Henrique and the entire Team did an awesome job,” said Ramez Wahab. “We did a minor setup change during first Session and Henrique was flying. We, the Crew and the Driver are still learning the F458 GT3 and will get stronger race by race. The series did the right move by postponing round 11, as conditions were treacherous”

NGT Motorsport will head to Road America for Rounds 12 & 13 of the Pirelli World Challenge and Rounds 10 & 11 of the GT Cup Presented by MOMO on June 26 – 28. A combined broadcast of both races is scheduled to air on CBS Sports Network on July 5, 2015, at 4:00pm EDT. Visit www.world-challenge.com for more details.
