Stouffville driver debuts in North America’s Top GT Production Series in Sin Car GT4

BOWMANVILLE, Ont., Canada – Young local driver James Vance comes to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park this weekend (May 19-22) with a new car and a new series.

Vance, the 22-year-old Stouffville, Ont., racer, will make his debut in the popular Pirelli World Challenge Victoria Day Speedfest at the famed 2.459-mile, 10-turn course in one of the hottest new cars in the North American GT Production tour.

Vance, a karting champion and endurance competitor, comes to CTMP in the No. 45 Racer’s Edge Sin Car GT4 machine in the GTS division for races set for Saturday (May 21) and Sunday (May 22). The Racer’s Edge Sin GT4 has already captured two main events in 2016 when Jade Buford won the double header weekend last month at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama.

“I’m very excited to be coming to CTMP for my first Pirelli World Challenge event,” said Vance. “I have raced at CTMP many times but this event marks my initial race in the SIN GT4 car and the GTS and SprintX classes. I helped John Mirachi and the Racer’s Edge team in the testing of the new car and the machine is fast as Jade proved at Barber. Now I hope I can continue the winning ways this weekend.”

Vance tested the new SIN GT4 last January in Georgia at the Roebling Road circuit and put in over 200 miles in a single-day. So James is very familiar with the car’s settings and characteristics. Vance will co-drive in the initial SprintX event with Chris Beaufait.

“We established a good baseline with the car at the first test and working with the team’s engineer Jim Patton was a great experience,” said Vance. “We are coming to a track that I know very well, so I am feeling good about our chances this weekend.”

Vance’s last CTMP competition was also with Racer’s Edge in the team’s Boss 302 Mustang in IMSA action last year. But James is set for the new series and a tough list of contenders.

“The GTS class is very competitive especially with drivers like past champion Lawson Aschenbach in the Camaro, Nate Stacy and Jack Roush Jr. in the Boss 302 Mustangs, Brett Sandberg in KTM X-Bow and Parker Chase in the Ginetta. Plus we have local guys like Anthony Mantella and Martin Barkley in the race who know CTMP well too.”

Vance expects a great turnout of friends, family and supporters this weekend at CTMP to cheer him on at the track.

“We are developing more business-to-business opportunities with our company – ExpoSystems Canada – and the CTMP event this weekend is a great platform for us,” said Vance. “We’ll have a great group of people attending this weekend’s races. I don’t feel the pressure with the bigger crowd here. I’m just very excited to go racing and have everyone watch the action.”

Vance is no stranger to CTMP and has seen a tremendous transformation in the motorsports facility over the years.

“I bet I have put into over 1000 laps at CTMP,” said Vance. “The track has changed so much with the new facilities but the racing surface is still the same fast, tough circuit. It’s one of the best courses to drive in North America. I can’t wait to get out there and drive the new SIN GT4.”

And Vance hopes to continue the car’s success and have a productive weekend with his family, friends and sponsors taking in the action.
