Milwaukee, WI – July 2, 2015 – JCR Motorsports enjoyed a successful weekend at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI entering cars in both the Pirelli World Challenge and Maserati Super Trofeo races.
Jeff Courtney, of Milwaukee, WI, successfully participated in a daunting five races over the weekend, three races in his Pirelli World Challenge No. 99 Kenda Tire / RecStuff.com Audi R8 Ultra and and two races in the Maserati Super Trofeo No. 99 Pennzoil/RecStuff.com Maserati.
Courtney’s Pirelli World Challenge weekend began on Friday, June 26 with Round 11 of GTA competition where he qualified sixth. Courtney held strong to his starting grid, engaging in battles throughout the 50-minute race and ultimately took the checkered flag in sixth position. Courtney’s fast race lap placed him yet again in sixth position on the starting grid for Round 12 where unfortunately a mechanical issue ended his day early and he took tenth place points for the day. Round 13 brought yet another sixth place finish for Courtney.
“We had a much better car than these results show! Unfortunately we did not get the chance to prove it, In Friday’s race we were forced into the grass on the start to avoid a stalled car and could not make up all the lost positions and in Saturday and Sundays races we fought steering rack issues, trust me when I tell you Road America is no place for a self-steering car! But the crew did a great job with car set up and chasing our steering gremlins” said Courtney
Courtney’s Maserati Super Trofeo debut was brilliantly successful as he finished on the podium in 3rd place in Saturday’s race, and turned in the fastest race lap in Sunday’s race but had to settle for a 5th place finish do to an electronic shifting issue. “The Maserati series was a blast! Thanks again to Roberto Bozzi and Pennzoil for putting this ride together for me, I really thought we had a shot to win on Sunday but about 3 laps into the race the car started shifting very slow do to an electrical issue, knowing I was losing valuable time and straight line speed I started to press the issue in the braking zones and eventually had a big lock up in turn 1 and flat spotted the tires and that was that” said Courtney.
“A huge shout-out goes to Gayle and Jody from SpeedSeatFactory.com for pouring a custom formed seat for the Masarati, right at the track as I was dealing with an ailing back.”
Mitch Landry, of Lake Charles, LA, took on Road America in his No. 97 Deep South/VersaCrane Porsche 911 Cup car for GT Cup Rounds 10 and 11. Landry qualified for Round 10 in seventh position and had very close battles but was able to advance his Porsche into the sixth position when the checkered flag waved. Similar to his teammate, Landry captured another sixth place finish in Round 11.
“Road America is a fast, challenging track and the “kink” is unforgiving,” said Landry. “I had a fun weekend racing and finally feel like I am learning how to drive this car. So we are making progress!”
Thanks to everyone from RecStuff.com and all our friends and family that came out to Road America to support us! Awesome time!
