Fast Facts:

At Home in Texas: GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing and their primary sponsor are located in Dallas, just three hours north of COTA, making this the team’s home event. Dallas was not affected by the recent tragedies associated with Hurricane Harvey in Southern Texas, but the GAINSCO family was, and because of these hardships, GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing has cancelled their celebration at the track this weekend.

Last Year at COTA: GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing made their Pirelli World Challenge debut at COTA last year. Jon Fogarty charged through the field in race two to earn a podium finish in front of hundreds of GAINSCO employees and independent insurance agents from Texas.

Translating Testing into Racing: Fogarty and his GAINSCO crew completed a two-day test at COTA in early August. The team felt confident with their findings throughout the test and hope it translates into a competitive effort this weekend.

Who and When? The SprintX format requires a driver change between 25 and 35 minutes into the race. Jon Fogarty will start the first race and finish the second. Wolf Henzler will finish the first race and start the second.

Bob Stallings, Team Owner: “The COTA race is very special to the GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing Team.

At our first race at this incredible facility, Jon Fogarty put The Red Dragon™ on the Pole and we won an exciting race in front of 600 of our Independent Agents and some 300 GAINSCO employees.

Last year, in our first outing in PWC, Jon Fogarty thrilled our agents and employees with a podium after a challenging and very eventful race. This event marks our second SprintX race with Wolf Henzler joining the team again in Austin. The race this year is more bittersweet for us, as our fellow Texans are experiencing the ravages of Harvey. We had planned a very big event with agents and employees alike, but our agents and staff are properly focused on the GAINSCO policyholders who are in need of our support this weekend. We hope the weather holds up so that we can race and more importantly the people devastated by the storm can recover their lives.”

Jon Fogarty: “It’s been terrible to see all of the devastation in Texas. We’re keeping our GAINSCO family from around Texas in our thoughts and are sorry we won’t be able to see them this weekend. We were a little surprised by some of the challenges we faced with the car in Utah at our first SprintX event and have worked very hard since then to come up with a competitive starting package this weekend to get us back up front where we belong.”

Wolf Henzler: “At the last Pirelli World Challenge event which was held at Salt Lake City we finished both races way below our expectations and for sure below our capability. The competition in the GT class is very high and if something is not 100% right, you find yourself immediately outside the top ten. However, I know we have the Team to get everything up to 100%. Therefore, I am very confident for COTA, because we also had a successful test there a couple of weeks ago. It’s been terrible to see the devastation in Texas. I’ve been watching the coverage in Germany and I hope that our race this weekend can be a pleasant distraction. I am disappointed I will not have the opportunity to meet the GAINSCO agents and employees in Texas, but I wish them a speedy recovery process.”
