Englewood Cliffs, N.J. – It was a banner day for Ferrari as Olivier Beretta, driving a Ferrari 458 Italia for R. Ferri Motorsport, dominated Sunday’s Pirelli World Challenge race on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida. Beretta’s victory, the second of the year in the PWC for Ferrari, came hours after Scuderia Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel scored Ferrari’s first victory of the season at the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Starting from third position, Beretta jumped to the lead from the standing start before the race was neutralized for a lengthy full course caution. When the race was resumed, Beretta withstood heavy pressure and led every lap to score his second victory of the year following a victory in round two at Circuit of The Americas.

“It was a good day for Ferrari, with victory in Formula 1 and in the Pirelli World Challenge,” said Beretta. “I just did my job, and I am very happy. I had no choice but to go for the lead early in the race because you never know if you are going to get yellow flags here. The team did a very good job and I am very happy to win for them again!”

Beretta’s R. Ferrari Motorsport Ferrari 458 led the five Ferrari 458 Italia’s in this weekend’s field. NGT Motorsport fielded one car for Henrique Cisneros, while the Giacomo Mattioli-owned Scuderia Corsa team entered cars for Duncan Ende, Martin Fuentes and Mike Hedlund.

In Saturday’s PWC race, which also featured long caution periods, Beretta finished in eighth position with Hedlund finishing in tenth. Cisneros added to the podium tally for the weekend for Ferrari, with a third-place finish on Sunday in the GT-A class for gentlemen drivers.

The PWC races from St. Petersburg will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network will be shown on Saturday, April 5 at 5:00 PM ET.
