Miami, FL – Epic Motorsports owner and lead driver Randy Mueller officially announced today that he will be joined by BimmerWorld Racing driver James Clay for this weekend’s SprintX races at Portland International Raceway. The duo will team up to drive the No. 3 Epic Motorsports BMW M4 GT4 in the GTS-X class – the platform that both organizations have been successfully campaigning this year.
“I am really excited about this coming weekend!” said Mueller. “I have some recent experience at Portland International Raceway and I think the circuit may not favor our BMW currently. But that said, I believe that our strong driver paring will pay dividends. I have raced with and against James for many years in lower levels of motorsports but I have never had an opportunity like this. He brings lots of race experience and has very specific M4 GT4 knowledge that we will certainly put to use.”
“Our BimmerWorld Racing organization has been a technical partner with Epic Motorsports since the arrival of these new BMW M4 GT4 cars as we have developed a street car-focused performance parts together” continued Clay. “Beyond that, Randy is a long-time friend, supplier, customer, and fierce competitor on track. We have all the components for a very successful weekend, and I look forward to actually racing together instead of against each other for once!”
Traditional Epic Motorsports sponsors Patriot Lending, Performance Friction Brakes, and Red Line Oil continue to support the team for the full 2018 SprintX season. Additionally, OPTIMA Batteries and Lifeline Fire and Safety Systems will join the effort for the Portland event.
The GTS-X races will be held at 4:40p.m. Pacific Saturday and 11:55p.m. Sunday. The races will be streamed live through links on the series’ Web site at world-challenge.com, and televised on a tape delay at 8 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday, July 25 on the CBS Sports Network.
