Edinburg, TX – De La Torre racing is excited to announce that it will be competing with British racing driver Lars Viljoen in the new Pirelli World Challenge SprintX series.
The SprintX series will run two 50-min. races on three race weekends. The first race will be at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park on May 21-22. After that the series will run at Utah Motorsports Campus on August 12-14, and will finish the season at the PWC finale at MAZDA Raceway Laguna Seca on October 7-9.
Jorge De La Torre, the team owner of De La Torre Racing and its primary driver, was impressed with Viljoen when they first met at the 24 Hours of Daytona earlier this year.
“Viljoen had great speed and constancy and has experience with the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 car we are campaigning, so it’s a good fit for me as a driver and with our team. We look forward to a successful weekend!” De La Torre said.
De La Torre Racing will hit the track Thursday, May 19 for a promoter’s test day.
