Phoenixville, PA – One of the most challenging tracks in North America will greet Calvert Dynamics drivers Andrew Davis and Preston Calvert with this weekend’s Pirelli World Challenge event at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (formerly known as Mosport). The team’s Phoenix Performance prepared GT and GT Cup Porsche entries are heading north of the boarder to Bowmanville, Ontario, where each driver will race twice around the famed circuit.
The event weekend, running from May 19-22, will see rounds eight and nine for the GT Championship, while GT Cup competitors will run rounds seven and eight of its 2016 season.
Calvert, driving the No. 77 entry, has solidly worked his way into third in the GT Cup points Championship, with three podiums in six starts, with 13 races remaining.
“As we head to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, the Calvert Dynamics team is looking to capitalize on our learning curve over the first four race weekends, and our recent NJMP test,” said Calvert. “We know our car can be a front runner, and our GT driver, Andrew Davis, is capable of moving us into that position. We need to do a better job of giving him the best tool for his job, and our entire team is focused on that goal.
“Mosport is a fast, classically designed track, with large elevation changes and sweeping turns. The climb up the back straight after Moss corner is a prolonged engine dyno pull and aerodynamic test. We look forward to the challenge of performing well there,” Calvert added.
Davis returned to form with a strong points-scoring performance at Barber Motorsports Park in April, and hopes to continue his progress and build upon past strong finishes at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
“I feel that we are learning more each event with our Calvert Dynamics Porsche GT3-R. Barber was another reminder at the level of competition in the Pirelli World Challenge series. We had a great car, but just missed the mark a little bit,” said Davis. “With valuable data gathered from that event, we moved onto a successful test at New Jersey Motorsports Park in preparation for the next round at CTMP. We are ready to take the fight to the fierce competition, and score some more valuable points to move us up in the championship standings.”
Regarding the track, Davis added: “To call the circuit a thrill ride is an understatement. High speeds and unprecedented elevation changes make it one of the most challenging tracks on our schedule. The fans in the area are so passionate about racing. I always love the energy and enthusiasm that they bring to the events.”
While the CTMP event runs from Friday to Sunday, it will be a quick turnaround for Calvert Dynamics, as the next event is at Lime Rock Park, May 27-28.
