Milwaukee, WI – Jeff Courtney and JCR Motorsports made the home crowd happy as the local team brought home 4th and 1st place finishes at Road America for both Pirelli World Challenge GTSA rounds.
The #99 Kenda/X-Analytics/RecStuff.com Maserati driver qualified 4th and after an intense Race 1, would finish where he started. “Race 1 was a bit frustrating in the fact that we had a good car that was capable of being in the conversation for the overall win in green flag conditions. With three full course cautions and overly-aggressive driving by some we were continually pushed back into on-track fights we did not need to be in! We just had limited time to claw our way to the front,” said Courtney.
After running a fast lap of 2:20.089 during Saturday’s round Courtney would start Sunday’s Race 2 from the class pole. A back and forth battle with rivals from BMW and McLaren, the Milwaukee-based driver would go on to take the class win, Courtney’s first of the season. On the race Courtney said, “The whole team did such a great job this weekend, we just kept getting a little better in every practice session and knew we had a great package going into the second race. We had a good start running P1 in class, and again I believe we could have had a shot at an overall win, but similar to Saturday’s race a caution pushed us back into huge scrap with 3 competitors and there was some contact and overly-aggressive driving. When the on-track fights were over it was unfortunately moved to the series official’s hands and they awarded us with the win! You never want your win to come via the officials, but I have no doubts we were the team to beat on Sunday.”
With the great results around America’s National Park of Speed, JCR Motorsports was able to raise awareness and funds for The Patriot Education Fund. “We were honored to help represent the Patriot Education Fund and also welcome and thank Dawn and Tom Scarborough for being part of our team for the weekend as Dawn purchased this experience at the Patriot Education Fund Charity Auction. They are great people and we enjoyed having them as part of our team this weekend!”
Pirelli World Challenge is next in action at Portland International Raceway for GTS SprintX rounds 7 and 8, July 13th – 15th.
