Elkhart Lake, WI – With an additional Porsche in its line-up, Calvert Dynamics went into Road America’s Pirelli World Challenge event with an expanded program, with new-comer Michael Lewis joining forces with Andrew Davis and Preston Calvert in the teams GT and GT Cup lineup prepared by Phoenix Performance.

A four-day event weekend with a huge crowd at the famous 14-turn track saw two races for GT and GT Cup competitors, with race one falling on Saturday afternoon and race two opening for the IndyCars on Sunday. Perfect conditions sustained for the majority of the weekend under the Wisconsin sun, apart from an early-morning rain shower on Sunday.

Calvert Dynamics’ results were anchored by an eighth place finish in GT for Andrew Davis in the No. 76 entry.

“It was lots of hard and close racing in our Calvert Dynamics Porsche GT3-R at Road America,” said Davis. “I really enjoyed having Michael Lewis under the tent as a teammate, and there will certainly be many benefits with the new personnel additions moving forward. I was struggling with braking issues during qualifying, so I was certainly not able to show the potential of the car in regards to grid position. However, I fought hard in both races to gain as much as possible ending with a couple of decent results. My Phoenix Performance crew were complete rock stars, and I really appreciate the effort put forth by those guys this week. I know the entire team is looking forward to our next outing at Mid-Ohio.”

In race one, Davis went from 16th to 11th; and improved a day later with a drive from 14th to eight in the GT class.

Lewis, in his first race with Calvert Dynamics, was back in familiar hardware, with the same car that he won both St. Petersburg races in, but now with a new team, a new livery, and a new number: No. 98.

“It was a real pleasure to begin working with the Calvert Dynamics team from the first practice session on Thursday. In every single session, through Race 2, the team developed the car nicely to give us a nice tool on the track,” said Lewis. “After some luck not going our way in qualifying, via some traffic, we worked hard to salvage what we could in Race 1. In our final race of the weekend, the car had good grip and it was a pleasure to drive. I made a move for the inside in Turn 1 on the restart and just couldn’t make it stick. I ended up making some contact with another competitor. Serving a drive through penalty for avoidable contact hurt our chances for a good result, but I must say that it was an excellent job by our team to make the car strong. I was able to put in some good laps and gather more data for the team. Thank you to all of the competitors and motorsports colleagues who provided me with a warm welcome back into the series. Now it’s on to Mid Ohio with our Discount Tire, Circle Porsche, Curb Records No. 98!”

Lewis finished 10th and 12th in class, respectively.

The team’s GT Cup effort with Calvert at the wheel of the No. 77 saw the second visit for Calvert in the pro Pirelli World Challenge format to Road America, with two fifth place finishes.

“I benefited over the course of the weekend from some setup adjustments in my GT3 Cup car. My pace was not equal to my fellow drivers, hindering my placement in the results, but I anticipate further improvement as we move on to Mid-Ohio. My crew gave me a reliable car for each session, for which I am grateful,” said Calvert, who has overseen the team’s expansion to three cars along with Joe and Andrew Aquilante from Phoenix Performance.

Calvert added: “We were very happy with Sunday’s eighth place finish in GT for Andrew Davis. Michael Lewis finished 12th in GT after serving a drive-through penalty for involvement in contact during the restart early in the race. He showed excellent pace through the remainder of the race. The car setup issues with which we have struggled during the first half of the season have largely been resolved with the guidance of our race engineer, Stefan Pfeiffer. Moving on to Mid-Ohio we are optimistic about further improvement in our on-track results.”

Calvert Dynamics and Pirelli World Challenge next race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, July 28-31.
