Bowmanville, Ont. — Canadian Nick Wittmer, from Montreal, QC was fastest in Thursday afternoon’s TC, TCA and TCB practice at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, at the Pirelli World Challenge Grand Prix of Canada presented by Audi. Elivan Goulart and Will Rodgers posted the fastest times in TCA and TCB respectively. The 30-minute session was held under clear, sunny 64 degree weather.

Early on Wittmer, in the No. 91 Honda Ste-Rose Honda Accord V-6 Coupe went to the top of the charts with a 1:33.006, followed by Toby Grahovec, in the No. 26 Classic BMW BMW M235iR with a 1:33.849.

In TCA, Goulart, in the No. 70 S.A.C. Racing/ Mazda MX-5 Cup posted an early fast time of 1:39.130 followed by Canadian Gary Kwok, in the No. 6 M&S Produce Honda Civic SI with a 1:39.296.

In TCB, Patrick Wilmot, in the No. 18 Media MINI Cooper posted an early fast lap of 1:49.788.

Race control then issued a red flag to retrieve the No. 66 Honda Civic Si driven by Tom Noble, who had gone off into the tire wall through turn 2.

The session returned to green with 15 minutes remaining and Adam Poland, in the No. 33 Edge Addicts Mazda MX-5 promptly posted a 1:31.843 to go to the top of the charts, followed by Shea Holbrook, in the No. 67 BUBBABurger/LucasOil/KoniShockAbsorbers Honda Accord V-6 Coupe with a 1:32.009.

In TCA, Goulart then improved his time to a 1:36.156, followed by Matthew Fassnacht, in the No. 74 S.A.C. Racing/Equity Residences Mazda MX-5 Cup with a 1:36.775.

In TCB, Rookie Henry Morse, in the No. 14 MorseGPS powered by CalAmp/MazdaSpeed/FreeM USA/Corksport Performance/Rolling Hills Prep/Hale Motorsports/Bell/Leatt went to the top with a 1:47.618, followed by Michael Johnson, in the No. 24 Tech Sport Racing Chevrolet Sonic with a 1:48.999.

At the nine-minute mark, Wittmer then jumped back to the top with a 1:30.268, while Goulart went faster with a 1:35.816. Kwok then again posted the second quickest time in TCA with a 1:36.014. Morse also bettered his time in TCB with a 1:47.195, while Wilmot also bettered to a 1:47.501.

With five minutes remaining in the session, Rodgers, in the No. 65 Solvang Brewing Co/Kelly Benefit Strategies/Foundation Fighting Blindness Mazda2 went to the top in TCB with a 1:46.039.

With under two minutes remaining in the session, Race Control issued a red flag as the No. 97 Tiburon Motorsports Brass Monkey Racing Nissan 370Z driven by Tony Rivera sat wounded outside of turn 5 with a mechanical issue. Race Control then issued a checkered to end the session.
