T3, T4 and B-Spec Class Champions Receive Free PWC Entries in 2017

LEXINGTON, Ohio – With the 53rd running of the Sports Car Club of America National Championship Runoffs Presented by Garmin VIRB at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, WC Vision, producers of the Pirelli World Challenge, has announced it has teamed up with Pirelli, Honda, Mazda and Nissan to provide a unique contingency program for the SCCA Club racers this weekend.

The 2016 Runoffs, utilize Mid-Ohio’s “pro course” configuration of the 13-turn, 2.258-mile circuit, will have a special prize for an SCCA National Champion competing in a Honda, Mazda or Nissan vehicle.

If the T3, T4, and B-Spec Class Champions win in a Nissan, Mazda or Honda, the competitor will receive not only a free entry to the Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car race of their choice, but also the Motec Data system and other electronics required to run in the Pro series.

“The level of talent at the SCCA Runoffs is impressive, and we wanted to give their Champions a chance to ‘test drive’ our series,” said Greg Gill, CEO and president of the WC Vision and Pirelli World Challenge. “The Pirelli World Challenge, especially our Touring Car A and B-Spec classes, are a perfect entry point for drivers wanting to go Pro Racing. We felt this unique, cooperative contingency program would help these drivers move to the Professional ranks. Big credit goes to Pirelli, Mazda, Nissan and Honda for making this happen.”

The Winner will need to drive a car that meets eligibility requirements of the Pirelli World Challenge series and can chose any race on the 2017 Schedule.

If the car raced does not currently meet Pirelli World Challenge eligibility requirements, the competitor may use the contingency in another car that is eligible as long as they stay within the brand they won their Championship.

Pirelli will provide a free set of tires, and WC Vision will provide the entry fee to complete the race package.
