Elkhart Lake, Wis. — Tony Rivera, Joey Bickers and Tom O’Gorman scored the Round 7 poles for TC, TCA and TCB, respectively at the Pirelli World Challenge Grand Prix of Road America presented by Cadillac. Temperatures for the 30-minute qualifying session were in the high 60s with cloud cover.

Early in the session, Rivera, in the No. 97 Brass Monkey Racing Tiburon Motorsports Nissan 370Z went quickest at 2:28.394 ahead of Nick Wittmer, in the No. 91 Honda Ste-Rose Racing Honda Accord V-6 Coupe, who ran a 2:28.831.

In TCA, Bickers, in the No. 49 Atlanta Motorsports Group Mazda MX-5 Cup, was fastest early at 2:38.949 ahead of Sam Adams, in the No. 48 Atlanta Motorsports Group Mazda MX5.

In TCB, Michael Johnson, in the No. 24 Tech Sport Racing Chevrolet Sonic, was first early in qualifying with a quick lap of 2:58.089.

As the session continued Rivera improved with a 2:27.970 in TC, followed by Toby Grahovec, in the No. 26 BMW M235iR for Classic BMW Motorsports in second and Wittmer in third.

In TCA, Bickers lowered the pole time to a 2:37.603 while Elivan Goulart, in the No. 70, S.A.C. Racing/SCDA1.com Mazda MX-5 Cup, jumped to second.

In TCB, O’Gorman, in the No. 94 Black Armor Helmets TNIA Honda Fit, was on pole with 10 minutes remaining in the 30-minute session with a time of 2:56.348 ahead of Johnson.

With the checkered flag in the air at the 14-turn, 4.048-mile road course, Rivera held on to take the TC pole ahead of Grahovec, Gallagher and Wittmer, with John Weisberg, in the No. 5 BERG Racing Power Brake/REDCOM/Red Line Oil/Powerflex/Mann’s/Miller/MCS Mazda MX-5, completing the top five.

In TCA, Bickers took pole over Adams and Goulart, while in TCB, O’Gorman scored the pole ahead of Johnson and Noah Grey, in the No. 65 Hale Motorsports Solvang Brewing Co/Kelly Benefit Strategies/Foundation Fighting Blindness Mazda 2.

For Rivera, it’s his fifth career PWC pole and first of the 2016 season, while Bickers scored his third pole of the season, and O’Gorman secured his first career PWC pole. O’Gorman also set a new TCB PWC qualifying track record with his time of 2:56.348, eclipsing the previous record of 2:56.615 held by Glenn Nixon that was set last year.
