Andrew Rains with Rains Racing has posted a blog update/video on its Honda Accord Racecar prep for PWC in 2016. Read the blog below. Click on the video link to watch the build update.
I was fortunate to spend Thanksgiving with my family at Lake Martin, fryin’ turkeys and eating way too much. Then made the short trip back to Auburn for the statewide Holiday that is the Iron Bowl (Auburn vs. Alabama football game). It felt fitting to attend seeming as though it would be my final Auburn football game as a student. I am now within two weeks of graduating from Auburn University and everything is happening for the final time, both academically, and in everything that I do as I go through my daily routine in Auburn. Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me and supported me as I have worked my way through my academic career, in a lot of ways it is much more difficult than running a race team!
During our break from class Robert Odom and I went to Groveland, FL to pick up our Honda Accord racecar from having the cage installed by Jeff Holbrook with Shea Racing. Big thanks to Jeff and team for a solid cage! Robert and I made it back to Birmingham on Sunday, in time to meet Paul Street from Honda Motorsports AL at the shop to begin the next step in the build process. We began painting the interior of the car and managed to get it done in time to have the windshield and other glass reinstalled after having to remove it to install the roll cage. We knocked that out Monday-Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving and were able to take a few days off to get some much needed R&R before a busy month of December when we hope to complete the build process.
Now the interior of the car is painted and Robert is beginning to run brake lines, and other projects before I wrap up the academic semester and head back to Birmingham to dedicate myself to Rains Racing full time! This is an exciting time; thank you to John Holcomb and National Bank of Commerce for enabling this project. We are excited to join the Honda ranks in 2016 and the Accord platform developed by Team HMA. It is an absolute honor to be partnered with Team HMA and Honda. Huge thanks to Paul, Josh, Matt, and everyone at Team HMA for their support.
