LONG BEACH, Calif. – Denmark’s Michael Christensen drove his No. 24 Alegra Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R sports car to the quickest time Saturday morning in the Pirelli World Challenge GT practice round at the 44th annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.
Christensen, a newcomer to the Pirelli World Challenge series in 2018, clocked a best lap of one minute, 19.193 seconds to prepare for the 25-minute qualifying session Saturday morning.
Second was Toni Vilander of Finland in the No. 61 RFerri Motorsports Ferrari 488 GT3 with a close 1:19.217 lap followed by Canadian Daniel Morad in the No. 2 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 at 1:19.268. Rounding out the top-five Saturday morning were Daniel Mancinelli of Italy in the No. 31 TR3 Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 at 1:19.409 and Scott Hargrove of Canada in the No. 06 Pfaff Motorsports/Castrol Porsche 911 GT3 R at 1:19.517.
Leading the GTA division in Saturday practice was 2016 GTA series champion Martin Fuentes of Mexico in the No. 07 Hublot/Squadra Corse Garage Italia Ferrari 488 GT3 at 1:20 317. Veteran Spencer Pumpelly of Atlanta tops the GT4 Invitational times with a 1:26.947 in the No. 66 TRG Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR.
Qualifying is set for 9:20 a.m. PDT Saturday.
