Austin will host the season opener for SprintX, East, and West competitors

Austin, TX. – The new look Pirelli GT4 America championship kicks off at Circuit of the Americas on March 1st – 3rd with SprintX, East, and West series in action at the 3.4-mile circuit. An impressive 32-car grid has been assembled with driver line-ups featuring a mixture of Pro-Am and Am pairings. All three series will race together at COTA with two 60-min SprintX races scheduled for the race weekend.

National SprintX Competitors Destined for Showdown

Last season, the SprintX format proved to be a popular category for GT4 drivers with fields over 30 cars. At COTA, 2018 GTS Team Champions GMG Racing return with Audi fielding a Pro-Am entry for Jason Bell and local Texas driver Alec Udell in the #2 Audi R8 LMS GT4.

Jarett Andretti makes the step up to GT4 after racing in the TCR class last season. He brings with him the support of Andretti Autosport and McLaren, co-driving with Karl Thomson in the #36 McLaren 570S GT4.

Fan-favorite Flying Lizard Motorsports reunites with Porsche for drivers Michael Dinan and Robby Foley in the new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS MR. In addition, NOLASPORT and drivers Matt Travis and Jason Hart will drive the #47 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS MR.

Continuing their GT4 effort from last season, Stephen Cameron Racing bring a Pro-Am pairing of Sean Quinlan and Gregory Liefooghe in the #19 BMW M4 GT4. ST Racing have entered with local Texan Harry Gottsacker and Jon Miller in the #28 BMW M4 GT4. Gottsacker and Miller were both race winners in SprintX competition last season and look to have a strong outing at COTA together.

In the Am category, Team Panoz Racing is back to honor the late Don Panoz with Preston Calvert and Matt Keegan behind the wheel of the #51 Panoz Avezzano GT4. John Allen and Kris Wilson join the series driving for Auto Technic Racing in the #16 BMW M4 GT4.

NOLASPORT’s Am entry places Mike Vess and John Capestro-Dubets together in the #46 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS MR. Completing the field, BGB Motorsports Group’s John Tecce and Thomas Collingwood will pilot the #69 Porsche Cayman GT4 CS MR.

New regional format opens opportunity for new drivers

To further grow GT4 racing in North America, two regional series were created utilizing the popular SprintX format – East and West – that develop and feed the field for the national championship. For COTA, both regional series join with the national series.

The Pirelli GT4 East Pro-Am race features many familiar faces and teams. Local Texas-based team Fast Track Racing / Classic BMW bring two BMW M4 GT4s for Justin Raphael and Steven McAleer in the #29 and Chris Ohmacht and Toby Grahovec in the #92. Race winner Aurora Strauss will co-drive the #80 Rearden Racing BMW M4 GT4 with Connor Bloum. TC standout Karl Wittmer makes the jump up to GT4 with Marko Radisic in the #22 Precision Driving Tech BMW M4 GT4.

Another local team, Park Place Motorsports field the new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 for Alan Brynjolfsson and Trent Hindman. Also with Porsche, Kelly-Moss’s Stuart Briscoe and Andrew Davis will drive the #32 machine.

Kohr Motorsports joins the East series with long-time World Challenge racer Nate Stacy and Rich Golinello in the #55 Ford Mustang GT4. Doghouse Performance debuts with Adam Poland and former GT Champion Andy Pilgrim in an Audi R8 LMS GT4.

Krugspeed, a race-winning team in Touring Car, moves to GT4 with Anthony Geraci and Elivan Goulart in the #27 Ginetta G55 GT4.

In the East Am class, BMW will be represented with Fast Track Racing / Classic BMW with Jeff Sexton making the move to GT4 driving with Ray Mason. Epic Motorsports features Randy Mueller and James Clay in the #3 BMW M4 GT4.

Murillo Racing returns with an unchanged driver line-up in their Mercedes-AMG GT4 with former TCA Champion Matthew Fassnacht and Christian Szymczak.

Two new teams join GT4 East; Bodymotion Racing enters Sean Gibbons and Al Carter in the #31 Porsche 718 Cayman CS MR, while Kelly-Moss/Photon Motorsports race an Audi R8 LMS GT4 with Greg and Eric Palmer behind the wheel.

In Pirelli GT4 America West Pro-Am class, Samantha Tan drove impressively last season and adds former TCB Champion Jason Wolfe as her co-driver in the #38 ST Racing BMW M4 GT4.

Rearden Racing’s Audi R8 LMS GT4 brings Sarah Cattaneo and Owen Trinkler in the #43 car, and new team USRD field the #5 Ginetta G55 for Casey Dennis and Jeff Bader.
The West Am championship features race-winner Drew Staveley and Frank Gannett driving the #24 Ginetta G55 for Ian Lacy Racing. 2018 TC Champion Vesko Kozarov and Jeff Burton will pilot the #91 Rearden Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4.

Rounding out the 32-car grid are a pair of TRG Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS MRs for Chris Bellomo and Kevin Woods in the #67. Fastlife’s Derek DeBoer will team with Dr. James Rappaport in the #17 for the West Am championship.
