SALINAS, Calif. — Allessandro PierGuidi, of Tortona, Italy, led Friday’s GT Practice session at the Pirelli World Challenge Grand Prix of Monterey at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca presented by Cadillac. In GT Cup, Colin Thompson, of Doylestown, Penn., continued his hold on the fastest practice lap, while Martin Fuentes, of Mexico City, Mexico, did the same in GTA.

Friday’s mid-day practice session lasted 30-mninutes under clear, 79-degree conditions.

At the onset of GT practice, Ryan Eversley, of Atlanta, Ga., set the early lap time at 1:26.400 in the RealTime/Acura Motorsports/HPD Acura TLX-GT. This was soon bested by both Ryan Dalziel, of Windermere, Fla., in the EFFORT Racing/World PMO Porsche 911 GT3R and Olivier Beretta, of Monte Carlo, Monaco, in the Ferrari of Ontario/Toronto/Alberta Ferrari 458 GT3 Italia.

Halfway through the session, Beretta posted a 1:25.794 to capture first, then subsequently bested himself with a 1:25.079 lap shortly after. It wasn’t until just under 10 minutes left in the session that PierGuidi jumped straight to the top of the board with a 1:24.681 lap in the MOMO/NGT Motorsport Ferrari 458 GT3 Italia. This pushed Dalziel and Beretta to the second and third fastest lap times respectively; this held until the end of session.

In GTA, Fuentes managed a 1:25.447 lap in the ScuderiaCorsa/Hublot/Samsung/UnderArmour Ferrari 458 GT3 Italia to duplicate his top practice spot from Thursday’s session.

GT Cup continued to be led by Thompson’s best lap effort, a 1:29.804 in the Porsche of Bucks County/Penn Valley Constructors/Sherwin Williams Automotive Finishes/Austin Hatcher Foundation
 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.

Of note, GT Drivers’ Championship points leader Johnny O’Connell, of Flowery Branch, Ga., in the No. 3 Cadillac Racing Cadillac ATS-V R posted the 11th fastest time of 1:25.919.
