BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alvaro Parente posted the fastest time in Friday morning’s 30-minute GT, GTA, and GT Cup practice session at Barber Motorsports Park, at the Grand Prix of Birmingham presented by Porsche, part of the 7th annual Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama. Michael Schein and Sloan Urry posted the fastest times in GTA and GT Cup respectively.
The session was held in overcast 62 degree weather conditions. Parente, driving the No. 9 K-PAX Racing McLaren 650S GT3 posted a 1:22.586 ahead of Adderly Fong, in the No. 88 Bentley Team Absolute Bentley Continental GT3 who posted a 1:22.858. JD Davison, driving the No. 33 Nissan/GT Academy GT3 GT-R posted the third fastest time with a 1:22.919.
Bryan Heitkotter and Johnny O’Connell rounded out the top 5 in GT: Heitkotter, driving the No. 05 Nissan GT Academy Nissan GT-R GT3 posted a fast time of 1:23.079, while O’Connell, driving the No. 3 Cadillac Racing Cadillac ATS-V.R GT3 posted a 1:23.137.
In GTA, Schein, in the No. 16 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3R posted the fastest time in class with a 1:24.407 ahead of Drew Regitz, in the No. 19 iRACERCOACHING.com Audi R8 GT3 (1:24.735) and Martin Fuentes, in the No. 07 Hublot, Under Armour Ferrari 458 GT3 Italia (1:24.786).
In GT Cup, Urry, in the No. 20 Security National/Avasis Porsche 911 GT3 Cup posted a 1:26.911, ahead of Alec Udell, piloting the No. 17 Amsource Capital/Panther Pipeline Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (1:27.412) and Corey Fergus, in the No. 00 Byers Porsche, US LED Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (1:29.042).
