BIRMINGHAM, Ala – Michael Lewis, driver of the No. 41 EFFORT Racing/Curb-Agajanian Porsche 911 GT3R has been promoted from the GTA class to the GT class starting for this weekend at Barber Motorsports Park. Lewis will compete in Rounds 6 and 7 as part of the MOMO Grand Prix at Barber Motorsports Park presented by Porsche.

Lewis currently sits 8th overall in the GT championship and comes off a 4th at Long Beach. As per the Pirelli World Challenge rule book, section, a GTA driver who achieves an overall 1st, 2nd, 3rd position, or TWO overall 4th, and 5th positions will automatically be moved to the GT class. Lewis also scored a 5th at Circuit of the Americas in Round 1 of the Championship.

“It’s a really big thing for the team, because they have been developing my driving skill with my engineer Stefan, my teammate Ryan, and owner Chuck Toups,” said Lewis. “It’s really though the same mentally. Since the first race at COTA till now I have just tried to go as fast as I can and develop as a driver, so it’s the same mindset really. With every session we have a plan, to go as fast as possible and develop the car and we are sticking to that. Now it’s just a different sticker.
