Cindric, Schein, Hedlund Lead First GT Classes Practice
SONOMA, Calif. – K-PAX Racing’s Austin Cindric, piloting the No. 6 McLaren 650S GT3 set the fastest lap in Friday’s first GT classes Practice session.
Cindric, of Charlotte, NC, turned a best lap of one minute, 32.723-seconds under overcast but clearing track conditions, trapping at ??? m.p.h. Flowery Branch, Georgia’s Johnny O’Connell turned the next fastest practice lap at 1:33.950-seconds in the No. 3 Cadillac Racing Cadillac ATS-V.R. GT3, while AE Replay XD Nissan GT Academy driver JD Davison (Denver, CO) rounded out the top three with a 1:33.972 lap in the No. 33 Nissan GT-R GT3. Of note, the top five fast practice laps in GT were within 0.5-seconds of the fast lap.
In GTA, Wright Motorsports’ No. 16 Porsche 911 GT3R driver Michael Schein turned a class-leading lap time of 1:35.908-seconds. Point leader Martin Fuentes (Mexico City, Mex.) captured second with a 1:35.955 in the No. 07 Scuderia Corsa Hublot/Under Armour Ferrari 458 Italia GT3, while Hinsdale, IL, resident Cooper MacNeil took the new No. 79 Alex Job Racing WeatherTech Porsche 991 GT3R entry to the class’ third-fastest lap at 1:36.087.
Flying Lizard Motorsports’ No. 35 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, piloted by Redwood City, Calif.’s Mike Hedlund, set the practice pace for GT Cup entrants with a 1:39.135 lap. Alec Udell (The Woodlands, Texas) turned a 1:39.252-second lap in the No. 17 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup while Park City, Utah resident Sloan Urry ran a 1:40.058-second lap to capture third-fastest in the class in the No. 20 TruSpeed Autosports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.
GT classes practice sessions continue at 1:15 pm PDT Friday afternoon.
