TCR Point Leader Eversley Gains Valuable Point With Pole Saturday O’Gorman Leads Secures TCA Pole
WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – TCR point leader Ryan Eversley of Atlanta, Ga., added to his point lead in TCR qualifying by winning the pole position Saturday at Watkins Glen International in the Pirelli World Challenge Grand Prix of Watkins Glen presented by TM Performance.
Eversley, who entered the Watkins Glen weekend with a seven-point advantage over Michael Lewis, drove his No. 43 RealTime Racing Honda Civic Type-R TCR car to a new track record of one minute, 55.354 seconds for an average speed of 105.23 miles per hour and received an extra championship point for his pole performance.
Sharing the front row with Eversley in Saturday’s TCR Round 11 40-minute sprint race is veteran Mark Wilkins of Canada in the No. 99 Bryan Herta Autosport with Curb-Agajanian Hyundai i30 N TCR machine with a 1:55.913 for 104.72 m.p.h.
Making up row two in the 10-car TCR field is Californian Lewis, a four-time race winner in the No. 98 Bryan Herta Autosport with Curb-Agajanian Hyundai i30 N TCR, with a time of 1:56.024 and 104.62 as well as Mason Filippi of California in the No. 44 RealTime Racing Honda Civic Type-R TCR at 1:56.312 and 104.36 m.p.h.
In the TCA division, point leader Tom O’Gorman of Mason, Ohio piloted his No. 94 TOMO Racing Honda Civic Si with a 2:09.938 (93.43 m.p.h.) followed by Jeff Sexton in the No. 89 TechSport Racing Subaru BRZ tS at 2:10.702 (92.87 m.p.h.) and Spencer Patterson in the No. 79 TechSport Racing Subaru BRZ tS at 2:11.025 (92.64 m.p.h.).
Saturday’s TCR/TCA Round 11 event is schedule at 3:00 p.m. EDT with Sunday’s Round 12 at 3:25 p.m. EDT.
