GRANTSVILLE, Utah – Michael Lewis and Mark Wilkins drove their Bryan Herta Autosport with Curb-Agajanian Hyundai i30 N TCR cars to a 1-2 performance Friday at Utah Motorsports Campus in the TCR practice rounds as part of the Pirelli World Challenge Grand Prix of Utah road racing weekend.

Lewis, in the No. 98 BHA Hyundai i30 N TCR, and Wilkins, in the No. 99 BHA Hyundai i30 N TCR, used the cooler morning conditions in the Utah desert to secure the top two laps of the TCR two practice sessions Friday. Young Mason Filippi drove the No. 44 RealTime Racing Honda Civic Type-R TCR to the fastest afternoon time over Lewis and Wilkins.

In TCA, point leader Tom O’Gorman clocked the top spot in his No. 94 TOMO Racing Honda Civic Si with TCA race winner Eric Powell leading in the TCA afternoon times in the No. 95 TechSport Racing Subaru BRZ tS.

Lewis, a two-time 2018 race winner, recorded the best TCR lap of the day at one minute, 59.352 seconds for an average speed of 91.93 miles per hour in the debut of the TCR class at the Utah Motorsports Campus. Wilkins clocked the second quickest time of the day in TCR with a 1:59.413 (91.88 mph).

In the triple digit heat of the afternoon (131 track temperature), Filippi, driving the No. 44 RealTime Racing Honda Civic Type-R for the first time, was third overall with a 2:00.556 (91.01 mph) followed Lewis at 2:00.718 (90.89 mph) and Wilkins at a 2:00.915 (90.74 mph).

TCR point leader Ryan Eversley drove his No. 43 RealTime Racing Honda Civic Type-R TCR to the third fastest in the morning practice at 2:00.929 (90.73 mph) and fifth fastest in the afternoon at 2:01.546 (90.27 mph).

In TCA, O’Gorman piloted his No. 94 TOMO Racing Honda Civic Si to a best lap of 2:12.066 (83.08 mph) with Powell notching a 2:12.606 (82.74 mph) in the morning. In the afternoon 100-degree heat, Powell had a 2:12.950 (82.53 mph) with O’Gorman second at a 2:13.413 (82.24 mph).

Action in the TCR/TC classes on Saturday begins with qualifying at 10:35 a.m. MDT at UMC and the Round 9 40-minute sprint feature set for 4:05 p.m. MDT.

Sunday’s Round 10 competition for the TCR/TCA divisions is scheduled for 1:00 pm. MDT.
