Nimkoff Paces Touring Car Practice Rounds Friday at Lime Rock Park

LAKEVILLE, Conn. – Robert Nimkoff of nearby Newtown, Conn., notched the quickest Touring Car time Friday in the opening two practice rounds at Lime Rock Park in the Pirelli World Challenge Grand Prix of Lime Rock powered by M.

Driving the No. 20 AutoTechnic BMW M235iR Cup sedan, Nimkoff clocked a best lap of 57.623 second for an average speed of 92.08 miles per hour in the second session at the 1.5-mile, seven-turn circuit northwest of Connecticut.

Taking second to Nimkoff’s BMW was another BMW M235iR Cup with Karl Wittmer of Montreal, Que., Canada timing in with 57.664 (92.02 m.p.h.) in the first practice round in the No. 91 Classic BMW M235iR Cup followed by veteran Matt Travis of The Woodlands, Tex., in the No. 26 Classic BMW M235iR Cup at 57.906 (91.63 m.p.h.), current TC point leader Vesko Kozarov of Salt Lake City, Utah, in the No. 3 Rearden Racing Nissan 370Z TC Spec at 57.950 (91.56 m.p.h.) and VIR winner Johan Schwartz of Huntersville, N.C., in the No. 80 Rooster Hall Racing BMW M235iR Cup at 57.995 (91.49 m.p.h.).

Local favorite John Weisberg of Webster, N.Y., in the No. 51 BERG Racing Mazda MX5 TC Spec was sixth Friday at Lime Rock Park at 58.027 (91.44 m.p.h.).

Touring Car qualifying will take place at 5:15 p.m. EDT Friday.
