BOWMANVILLE, Ont., Canada – The GTS Friday practice 1 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park proved to be a tight battle between last year’s CTMP double race winner Jade Buford and the 2017 GTS series champion Lawson Aschenbach, while local favorite Fred Roberts paced the GTSA division in the Pirelli World Challenge Victoria Day Speedfest.

Buford, a 2018 COTA GTS SprintX race winner, drove his No. 55 PF Racing Ford Mustang GT4 to the top time at the legendary 2.459-mile, 10-turn road circuit northeast of Toronto with a best lap of one minute, 24.059 seconds for an average speed of 105.31 miles per hour.

Buford just nipped CTMP track record holder Aschenbach, who piloted his No. 1 Blackdog Speed Shop Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R to a best of 1:24.095 (105.26 m.p.h.).

Roberts, the Toronto driver in the No. 89 JCR Motorsports Maserati Grand Turismo MC GT, led the GTSA class Friday in practice 1 and placed third overall with a stellar 1:24.336 (104.96 m.p.h.) followed by Shave Lewis in the No. 72 Robinson Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 at 1:24.658 (104.56 m.p.h.) and current GTS overall point leader James Sofronas in the No. 14 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4 at 1:24.779 (104.41 m.p.h.).
