The Garrett Racing Driver Development and Diabetes Awareness Program has announced its 2015 Pirelli World Challenge Driver Lineup.
Chase Pelletier -Touring Car A #11 Honda Civic Si18-year-old, Type 1 Diabetic, Pelletier returning for his third year in Pirelli World Challenge with The Garrett Racing, Drive4Diabetes.com Driver Development Program.
Pelletier participated in the 2013 Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car series under the tutelage of co-driver and BMW factory driving instructor Johan Schwartz, Indy Car driver Charlie Kimball and A1GP/ALMS BMW RLL driver Jonathan Summerton. Pelletier finished in the top ten at every race attended during his inaugural season.
In 2014 Pelletier was the Canadian, open wheel, F1600 SS Champion and F1600 Vice Champion piloting a Honda Powered Mygale for Britain West Motorsports & Brian Herta Autosport. Pelletier was selected to represent Team Canada at the 2104 Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch and finished 14th out 56 world class young open wheel drivers.
In Pirelli World Challenge, Pelletier working with D4D guest coach Todd Snyder at The Mid Ohio Sports Car Course. Pelletier qualified on pole, won TCB his race, and set a new track record in the process.
For the 2015 Season Pelletier will be stepping up a class to pilot the #11 American Diabetes Association/American Honda/Animas Stop Diabetes Honda Civic Si in Touring Car A.
Off track, Pelletier is studying Automotive Engineering at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and is a tireless advocate for Type 1 Diabetes awareness, a condition he’s lived with since the age of 10.
Jon Miller -Touring Car A #11 Honda Civic Si
Miller joins as the teams new in-house driver coach and co-driver of the #11 American Diabetes Association/ American Honda/Animas Stop Diabetes Honda Civic Si in Touring Car A.
Miller is a professional sports car racer and coach with over a decade of experience in a wide variety of vehicles and on most racetracks in North America. Miller raced with Compass360 Racing in the 2014 IMSA Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge ST class and select Pirelli World Challenge races in the #68 CawleyMotorsports/Loud Bastard Honda Civic Si in the Touring Car class.
In addition this season, Miller we will be running a full IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge season in a Rennsport One Porsche Cayman.
Kimi Ratcliffe – Development Driver Touring Car B #12 Honda Fit
Diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, at age 41 in 2007, Ratcliffe has learned to manage her condition within the rigorous environment of motorsports and looks forward to inspiring others recently diagnosed with diabetes. Ratcliffe comes from a successful background in NASA & SCCA Club racing in Porsche 944 Cup, Spec Miata and Honda Challenge.
Ratcliffe spent two days testing with the program in the fall of 2014 and adapted quickly to being back in a race car and will be participating in the 2015 Driver Development & Diabetes Awareness program in the #12 Honda Fit.
Miranda Gallagher – Development Driver Touring Car B #12 Honda Fit
Gallagher, a 17 Year Old, Type 1 Diabetic, Kart Racer from Indiana has been competing in the SIRA Midwest Karting Championships for the last 4 years.
Gallagher was the 2011 Champion and driver of the year award recipient, the 2012 Champion, 2013 Vice Champion and 2014 Champion in the Senior Yamaha Supercan division.
Gallagher spent two days testing with the program in the fall of 2014 and will be participating in the 2015 Driver Development & Diabetes Awareness program in the #12 Honda Fit, in preparation for her 2016 debut in Pirelli World Challenge,Touring Car B. Johan Schwartz will continue in a guest coaching capacity for the D4D program in 2015.
