Webster, NY – BERG Racing a Webster, NY based automotive performance shop and sports car team, in collaboration REDCOM Laboratories, Inc, will enter the Pirelli World Challenge for 2015. The team brings a two-car assault to the TC class led by two-time IMSA Lites champion and team owner John Weisberg. Team mate in the second car will be Dinah Weisberg, Executive Vice President of REDCOM, and wife to John. The two drivers will pilot a Porsche Cayman and a Mazda MX5. John and Dinah are long time SCCA club racers and most recently competed in the IMSA CTSC series.

The team’s state-of-the-art facility just outside of Rochester, NY is busy preparing the Mazda and Porsche, alongside customer cars being prepared for track and street duty. The BERG Racing team had a successful 2014 season, winning the 2014 ST race at Indianapolis with several top-10 finishes and an additional podium finish. The switch to PWC is a welcome one; the team’s first professional race was in SCCA’s World Challenge in 1997.

“Pirelli World Challenge offers a compelling venue for us as drivers and team owners”. “Removing the wild cards of pit stops and multiple drivers surely put the spotlight on us as drivers but it also eases the load of management and allows us to focus on driving,” said John Weisberg. “The sports cars racing in PWC are the cars that our customers are driving and interested in and the venues are some of the best in the world. This, along with an outstanding TV and media package, and the shorter races makes it a great fit for the BERG team and marketing partners REDCOM Laboratories, ColorTrack, Racer Ink, and Mann’s Jewelers”.

BERG Racing plans to début the Mazda and Porsche TC cars at The Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Texas during the opening round of the 2015 season. With almost 50 cars in the TC/TCA/TCB group and 19 in TC, the three races and standing starts should provide some amazing action.

The Pirelli World Challenge season starts on March 6 at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
