HOUSTON, Texas — Alec Udell impressed in his first season of Pirelli World Challenge GT Cup competition last year, and today announced that he will be back to contest for the championship again in 2016. He returns for what promises to be an exciting season at the front of the field in his No. 17 Porsche GT3 Cup car, continuing a strong partnership with Houston, Texas-based Euroworld Motorsports and Global Motorsports Group in Santa Ana, California.

“I’m very excited to be back with the GMG guys for the 2016 Pirelli World Challenge racing season,” enthused Udell. “After doing so well last season with the GMG crew, especially with the support of James and Nev, I’m ready to jump back into the car and pickup where we left off!”

For Udell, who hails from The Woodlands, Texas, this year marks a continuation of a highly successful motorsports career. The 2008 Rotax North America National Champion moved to the Pirelli World Challenge in 2011, becoming the youngest-ever competitor in series history at age 15, capturing pole position at Mid-Ohio. He earned podiums every year from 2012 to 2014, and with the introduction of the GT Cup class in 2015, Alec proved he was ready to fight for a top-level sportscar championship. He won three times last season, and he finished fourth in the GT Cup championship, despite missing a number of rounds due to a spectacular wreck caused by another car at St. Petersburg, Florida.

“This is my sixth year in World Challenge, which has proven itself to be one of the most competitive series around,” noted Udell. “I really got to know this Porsche last year, and I think we should have a really solid package from the very first race. COTA (Circuit of the Americas, in Austin, Texas) is my home race, so I know we’ll have a lot of support right from the start.”
Euroworld Motorsports was signed mid-season in 2015 as primary sponsor, and they will continue that arrangement for this year. “Our partnership with Alec proved to be even more effective than we’d expected, and we are excited to be working with him and his team again this year,” remarked Frank Lee, Owner of Euroworld. “We had a wonderful charity event at the conclusion of last year, with Alec and his car, and it was very successful. It was good for us, and also raised money for Alec’s selected charity, the Children’s Tumor Foundation and their Racing4Research program.”

The PWC GT Cup season gets underway on March 3, 2016 at COTA, and will unquestionably be a gripping battle through its ten-race schedule which culminate at the finale at Laguna Seca, California in October. All races will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network, and are also available in live-steam at http://world-challengetv.com.
