In a damp opening qualifying session for TC America’s TC category at Circuit of the Americas, Jeff Ricca claimed the VP Racing Lubricants Pole Award for Race 1 in the #78 GenRacer Hyundai Genesis Coupe with a 2:38.865. He eclipsed friend and rival Johan Schwartz in the #80 Rooster Hall Racing BMW M235iR Cup machine by only 0.058-seconds. Local Texans Classic BMW and Toby Grahovec will start third in the #26 BMW M240iR Cup, posting a 2:39.985 in the session.
Steve Streimer, who made the move to Rooster Hall and BMW this off-season, will start fourth with a 2:40.772. Rounding out the Top 5, Lone Star Racing’s Zane Hodgen making his series debut crossed the line with a 2:41.235 in the #4 BMW M235iR Cup.
