Successful NASCAR driver Scott Heckert is set to test with Racers Edge Motorsports in one of the team’s exciting new SIN R1 GT4 machines. Scott, who’s had success on both ovals and road courses in the Stock Car world, has decided to try his hand behind the wheel of a sports car. It will be a different experience considering all the extreme technology prevailing in the latest GT4 machines and will be Scott’s first experience with paddle shifting, traction control and ABS brakes.

Scott started out at Skip Barber Racing School where he learned road racing techniques in an open wheeled formula car, before moving into Stock Cars and ultimately establishing himself there. In that world, he is particularly sought after as an expert substitute driver for road courses, where his expertise can benefit teams whose regular driver lacks road course experience. Now deciding to try something new, he’s curious to see how his road racing prowess translates to sports cars and the Pirelli World Challenge provides the perfect venue.

Racers Edge Motorsports Team Director, Jon Mirachi, is looking forward to working with another young driver who’s displayed an abundance of talent. “We’re excited to go testing with Scott. He’s got a great attitude and he’s already a proven winner in a high level professional environment. Our team has an extensive background in driver development and based on his success in NASCAR and his road course roots, we think Scott has the potential to be a great sports car driver. We’re eager to see how he performs and hope to establish a long and successful relationship.”

After testing this week with Scott, the Racers Edge Motorsports team returns to racing action at Barber Motorsports Park on April 22nd, competing in the Pirelli World Challenge event at the park-like facility located in Birmingham, Alabama.
