Joey Jordan Combines Motorsports and Craft Beer – Responsibly!

They say success breeds success.   Joey Jordan certainly had a successful debut in the Pirelli World Challenge series at Miller Motorsports Park.  He took a third-place podium in his debut race, and backed up that finish with a win in his second ever professional race by winning the final race of the weekend in the Corksport/Minx Nails Mazda2.   Heading into the final weekend of the 2015 season at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on September 11-13, Jordan hopes to take his new partner, Mumford Brewery, into victory lane.

A senior at the University of California, Santa Barbara, Jordan has become a big fan of craft beer.  “It has been a big year for me.  I turned 21, scored my first professional racing win, and discovered Mumford Brewing.   It has been amazing and I hope to make it even better in Monterey.”

Mumford Brewing is a new Microbrewery located in Downtown Los Angeles.  Opened by brothers Todd and Peter Mumford, along with Todd’s wife Tien, Mumford Brewing has quickly earned a reputation for exciting variations on New American Styles of Beer.  They currently have a tap room serving their latest and current creations, and also have both Growlers (64 oz. jugs) and Crowlers (32 oz. cans) available to go.  The list of bars and restaurants around Los Angeles currently serving their beer continues to expand.

“We have only been open a few months,” explained Brewmaster Peter Mumford.  “Like all small startups, we have to look for innovative ways to gain attention and interest from the right people.   We also need to do it with a very limited marketing budget.   We felt the online and TV presence of the Pirelli World Challenge offers a way to reach a large group of people with an interest in craft beer.   When

Joey came to us with the idea, it seemed like a perfect fit.”

Why did Mumford Brewing choose Joey Jordan and Motorsports?   Peter explains “When I had just turned 21 myself, I remember working weekends with Joey’s dad putting decals on a Mazda race car for a small Microbrewery I had never heard of.   Today, that San Diego area brewery is one of the three largest Microbreweries in the nation.   I always have enjoyed racing and wanted to see if the Jordan family could help do for Todd, Tien and I what they did before, put a new, but growing microbrewery on the map.”

What does Joey Jordan think about the new partnership?  “Hey, I am a college student and beer is one of my favorite weekend food groups.   As soon as I tried Mumford Brewing’s Black Mamba I knew they were on to something and I am so excited to help them grow their brand!   Of course, we will also make sure we promote responsible consumption and NEVER to drink and drive.”

Joey Jordan feels that as a college student, with a beer company partner, he is a unique position to promote being responsible.  “Peer to peer interaction is very powerful, and a message to NEVER drink and drive coming from me will resonate with other students.”

Jordan also enjoys support from Nail Fashion leader Minx Nails.   Minx brings high fashion design to fingernails, and has developed ground breaking styles and technology.   Minx has supported Jordan from the very beginning of his racing career.

So if Jordan makes it back onto the podium this weekend and takes Mumford Brewing with him, will he forgo the traditional Champagne spray and substitute a Mumford Brewing Growler?  “No way!  Champagne is for spraying, Mumford Brewing craft beer is for drinking!”
