Jack Baldwin, of Marietta, GA, enters the weekend coming off of a double-podium effort, including a victory, at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Baldwin has enjoyed past success at Road America and looks to have another weekend of hard racing and podium finishes at Road America.
“I have mixed feelings going into this weekend,” said Baldwin. “On one hand we’re coming off of a race win which is great but on the other hand that win, our first podium effort in eight races, caused us to receive a negative balance of performance adjustment. It’s going to hurt us on those long straights at Road America. It’s going to be a fight but luckily I am ready and the team is ready. As always we’re going to go out there and make the best out of what we have available to us.”
Buz McCall, of Boca Raton, FL, has enjoyed some of his greatest on-track battles to-date this season and enters the weekend coming off of a strong performance at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park which earned him the VP Fuels Hard Charger award. Road America is a special place for McCall as it could be considered as the origin of his racing aspirations.
“Road America is where the racing flame was lit for me,” said McCall. I grew up in Champaign, Illinois and attended a YMCA summer camp (Camp Anokijig) very close to Road America. The camp had a sign-up sheet for the coming activities, such as horseback riding, archery, or going to a SPORT CAR RACE at Road America. I signed up…and here we are decades later where it all began. I recall standing by the fence coming on to the front straight watching the Ferraris, Maseratis, and other now famous cars of the 50’s roaring by thinking..man I want to do THAT! Coming back to Road America always makes me feel like a kid again!”
