Fuentes Secures Third Place in GT-A Championship for Scuderia Corsa

September 14, 2015 (Los Angeles, Calif.) – Scuderia Corsa finished its first Pirelli World Challenge season with a competitive race in the season finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Salinas, California on Sunday afternoon.

Martin Fuentes, in the no. 07 HUBLOT / Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 458 Italia, secured third place in the GT-A championship by finishing in 8th position in Sunday’s race. Fuentes enjoyed a season defined by consistency and speed in which he scored one victory, four additional podium finishes and eleven top five.

“It was a good weekend for me,” said Fuentes. “We had a very good practice, and a pretty good qualifying, and then the race wasn’t as good as we had planned. I got a penalty, which hurt our race a little bit but we are pretty happy. Our pace was fast and the team did a great job, and we are all kind of sad that the season is over, but we are looking forward to next year and to try and win the GT-A championship.”

Duncan Ende had a solid run in the no. 64 Lino’spresso / Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 458 Italia, making up ground throughout the race to bring his Ferrari home in 12th position in the GT class.

“For some reason or another, we struggled a bit during the first part of the weekend which put us behind,” said Ende. “So I was pleased to find that we had a pretty good car for the race and I was able to stay out of trouble and move up throughout the race. But with such a competitive field and no caution periods, it was really hard to make progress. I ended up in a fun battle with several other cars, and I am happy we made up a bunch of spots, but it would have been nice to finish the season with another top-ten. Many thanks to the Scuderia Corsa guys who pushed all season long to give me the best car that they could.”

Mike Hedlund wrapped up a limited Pirelli World Challenge season by finishing in fourth position in the GT-A class.

“We had a solid car all weekend and it was nice to finish the season with a strong result”, said Hedlund. “We had a bit of contact from different cars early in the race but our trusty 458 Italia stayed together. Thanks to everyone at Scuderia Corsa for all the hard work this season! “

“I am really pleased about our first full season in the Pirelli World Challenge,” said Giacomo Mattioli, Scuderia Corsa team owner. “It was a pleasure working with Duncan, Martin and Mike this season. We had a great time and celebrated many positive results. Third place in GT-A with Martin is an excellent accomplishment considering it was the first season for him in a Ferrari. The crew did a good job. I’d like to recognize Roberto Amorosi, our Technical Director, and Brian Ma, our Car Engineer, for their efforts throughout the season. I am looking forward to an exciting 2016 Pirelli World Challenge season!”

Scuderia Corsa also took part in this weekend’s Ferrari Challenge event at Mt. Tremblant with their Driver Development program, which nurtures and cultivates drivers to enter the Ferrari racing world. Drivers Darren Enenstein, Alistair Garnett, Neil Langberg and Michael Watt attacked the challenging Mt. Tremblant circuit in their Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 458 Challenge Evos.

The Pirelli World Challenge race from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network on Sunday, September 20 at 3:30 PM ET. While the Pirelli World Challenge season has wrapped up, Scuderia Corsa has two remaining races in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. The next one, the LoneStar Le Mans at the Circuit of The Americas, will be held on September 17-19.
